William John Clifton Haley (July 6, 1925 – February 9, 1981), known as Bill Haley, was an American rock and roll musician. He is credited by many with first popularizing this form of music in the early 1950s with his group Bill Haley & His Comets and million-selling hits such as "Rock Around the Clock", "See You Later, Alligator", "Shake, Rattle and Roll", "Rocket 88", "Skinny Minnie", and "Razzle Dazzle". He has sold over 25 million records worldwide.

Della Reese (born Delloreese Patricia Early; July 6, 1931), is an American singer, actress, game show panelist of the 1970s, one-time talk-show hostess and ordained minister. She started her career in the 1950s as a gospel, pop and jazz singer, scoring a hit with her 1959 single "Don't You Know?". In the late 1960s, she had hosted her own talk show, Della, which ran for 197 episodes. Through four decades of acting, she is best known for playing Tess, the lead role on the 1994–2003 television show Touched by an Angel.

Gene is a Grammy Hall Of Fame inductee and a winner of both the National Association of Television and Radio Announcers' "Producer of the Year" Award and the Rhythm and Blues Foundation's Pioneer Award. Chandler is also one of a just a few singers to vend successful record singles and albums during the doo-wop, rhythm and blues, soul, and disco musical eras, with some 40 Pop and R&B chart successes between 1961 and 1986. On August 24, 2014, Chandler was inducted into the Official Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame.

She is best remembered for her performance in Psycho (1960), for which she was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and received an Academy Award nomination.

John Frederick "Fred" Dryer (born July 6, 1946) is an American actor and former American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL). He played 13 years in the NFL, having played in 176 games, starting in 166, and recording 104 career sacks with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams. He is the only NFL player to score two safeties in one game.

Following his retirement from football, Dryer had a successful career as a film and television actor, notably starring in the series Hunter. His height, 6'6," and physique were useful for his action roles.

Remembering Luana Patten on her Birthday.
(July 6, 1938 – May 1, 1996)

At the age of 3 she was a young model and later was hired by Walt Disney. Patten made her first film appearance in Joel Chandler Harris's 1946 musical Song of the South with Bobby Driscoll. They also appeared together in Song of the South's sister film So Dear to My Heart.
In 1947, she appeared with Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, and Mortimer Snerd during the live action scenes in Fun and Fancy Free. She played the role of Priscilla Lapham in Disney's 1957 production of Johnny Tremain. In 1958, Patten played the part of Elizabeth Buckley in the episode "Twelve Guns" of NBC's Cimarron City western television series. It was on Cimarron City that she met her future second husband, John Smith, whom she married two years later. The couple divorced in 1964.

In 1959, she played "Abbie Fenton" in the episode "Call Your Shot" of Wanted: Dead of Alive, starring Steve McQueen. In 1960, she played "Libby Halstead" in Vincente Minnelli's Home from the Hill. In 1966, she played a saloon girl named "Lorna Medford" in the episode "Credit for a Kill" of Bonanza. In 1966, she had a small part as Nora White, the new bride of the reformed "Whitey" played by Kurt Russell, in Follow Me, Boys!. She also appeared in Fun and Fancy Free, A Thunder of Drums, and the Rawhide episode "Incident of the Druid Curse" on CBS. That year she also appeared on Perry Mason as defendant Cynthia Perkins in "The Case of the Scarlet Scandal". She retired from the film industry in 1968.

Mervyn Edward "Merv" Griffin, Jr. (July 6, 1925 – August 12, 2007) was a U.S. television host, musician, actor, and media mogul. He began his career as a radio and big band singer who went on to appear in film and on Broadway. From 1965 to 1986 Griffin hosted his own talk show, The Merv Griffin Show, produced by Westinghouse Broadcasting (also known as Group W). He also created the game shows Jeopardy!, Wheel of Fortune, Click, Ruckus, and Merv Griffin's Crosswords with his own television production companies, Merv Griffin Enterprises and Merv Griffin Entertainment. During his lifetime, Griffin was considered an entertainment business magnate.

He was also known for playing the Wazir in Kismet and Dr. Carl Hyatt in the series Checkmate (1960–1962), as well as for voicing Bagheera in The Jungle Book (1967). Other roles were in The Spy Killer (1969) and narrating The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977).

As with many character actors with long careers, Schallert's face is more recognizable than his name.
